Date:13th April 2008 "Zhong Hua Niu Bian" and "Santi Bovine Penis Erecting Capsule' (Santi)", two illegal medicines meant for increasing sexual vigor and stamina, are increasingly found to be available in the pharmaceutical market and altogether it has been revealed that these pills contain tadalafil, a primary component of the erectile dysfunction medication Cialis and sildenafil , a specific Viagra ingredient in considerable quantity. These fake sexual enhancement medicines are reported to trigger off side-effects with a middle-aged person from Malay falling prey to several side-effects, namely, confusion, drowsiness and dizziness after taking dosages of the counterfeit medication Santi. However, according to Ms Chan Cheng Leng, assistant director of Health Sciences Authority (HSA)`s pharmacovigilance, communications and research division, while certain dosages of these medicines prove detrimental to the health, some other dosages are found to be safe and as such the patient might never know what would happen to him after opting a dosage of this drug. With the dosages varying from pill to pill, it has become evident that opting for these tablets is like playing Russian roulette as in one occasion these counterfeit tablets might trigger off disastrous effects while in another, they might prove to be harmless.
