Date:30th January 2008 The extraordinary sales of the erectile dysfunction drug Cialis, Alimta, the medicine to treat cancer and the anti-depressant Cymbalta has increased Eli Lilly's profit margins to $854.4 million in the fourth quarter and with that the over-all sales have reached the mark of $5.19 billion, which is a 22 percent increase. Altogether, it has also become apparent that Eli Lilly's drug sales for the full year have reached $18.6 billion, a 19 percent increase in sales. According to Sidney Taurel, chairman and chief executive of the company, the tremendous growth in Eli Lilly's fourth quarter sales can be attributed to the sales and marketing investments of the company. After achieving a significant growth in medicine sales, the drug manufacturing company Eli Lilly is now expecting that its present year earnings would also increase extraordinarily and forecasting that the company's total profits in 2008 would touch the mark of $3.80 to $3.95 a share.
