The oft Quoted but rarely understood Concept of Health and Fitness.
In the present day more and more people are coming under the spell of what is called as the fitness mania. People are increasingly becoming ‘fitness freaks’ in order to look good, feel fresh and enjoy the fruits of youth for as long as possible. But what is fitness?
You must be thinking, what a silly question! The fact is there are many conceptions which we think we are clear about, but in reality we only know bits and pieces of the truth. Fitness doesn’t mean working out to the point of being skinny. People have this conception that basically weight loss refers to fitness. There is also the conception that comparatively thin people should not work out or they will disappear. These are typical lay man conceptions. Fitness actually is very different from this.
Fitness is a condition when the weight and the height of a person are in complete symmetry. If our health is the heart of a machine called the human body, then we can take it like this that fitness is all the greasing, servicing, and repairing that is done to this heart so that it may in turn keep the machine in good working condition and so that it can give better service for a longer period of time. Without fitness health can’t function and without health the body will break down.
Thus the bottom line is that meanings of terms like fitness should be understood in their correct light and then should be implemented. As goes the popular proverb little knowledge is dangerous. Especially in terms of one’s health experimentation is not advisable.
