Unveiling The Stages Of Male Sexuality

Phases That Govern Male Sexuality
Male sexuality is a phenomenon governed by several stages and as such the concept cannot be defined by a single sentence. A whole lot of processes/stages are involved in the interpretation of male sexuality as well as the sexual orientation of a male and all these stages should end suitably if the person has to achieve sexual fulfillment.

The various sexual phases through which a male has to pass through in order to achieve successful sexual intercourse with his partner are arousal, erection, orgasm and ejaculation.

Arousal: The Initiation
The response of a male towards the sexual advances of his female partner depends much on his arousal. The sexual arousal of a male is triggered off through the meeting of his eye with a sexy female (in case of heterosexual males) or gay males can be sexually aroused at the sight of other attractive males. Even while reading an erotic book or watching a movie the man get sexually stimulated which would lead to the release of endorphins (the feel good hormone) in the brain. The signal of being sexually aroused is conveyed to the brain which in turn transmits the message to two small glands stationed near the uthera known as Cowper's glands.

These Cowper's glands thereafter produce a slippery fluid substance called pre-ejaculate, also known as ooze" or "precum in slang terms and the production of this substance is an indication that the male is sexually aroused.

Erection: The Second Stage
Erections are the result of smooth blood flow to the penile area and it happens only on sexual stimulation. When a person is sexually aroused the brain gets the message and in turn releases nitric oxide, a chemical responsible for blood flow to the penis. The resultant blood flow induced by nitric oxide leads to the formation of rock hard solid erections necessary for satisfactory physical intercourse between the partners.

One primary artery and several veins make the penis filled with blood but if the nerves that control the veins and the arteries are damaged on several counts, say, spinal cord injury, then the penis is not crammed with sufficient quantity of blood required for solid erections. Such a disorder is termed as erectile dysfunction and many factors other than spinal cord injury like smoking or alcohol intake etc can push a person to the threshold of this ailment.

As a person reaches puberty and enters the teen age he is capable of achieving erection spontaneously but with the passing of age a little manipulation of the penis becomes a dire necessity for him to achieve full erections.

Orgasm & Ejaculation: The Final Occurrence
After his sexual arousal, a person attains erections, then achieves the climax of orgasm and finally ejaculates semen from his penis.

Orgasm is an intrinsic part of the sexual response cycle shared by both the male and his female partner. When a male reaches the orgasm stage, the muscles in his lower pelvic region and the muscular part covering his genitals contract which lead to a tingling pleasure sensation throughout his whole body. In sexual intercourse, when a man and a woman reaches orgasm they experience muscle spasms in the penis as well as in the other areas of the body which are accompanied by supreme erotic sensation.

Ejaculation is the final stage of sexual excitement and it is accompanied by orgasm. During ejaculation, the male ejects semen from the penis, voluntarily or involuntarily. Once a person reaches the heights of orgasm, he may ejaculate automatically and if he is unable to release semen voluntarily from his penis, masturbation or other external techniques might have to be adopted. When the penis is touched gently, the muscles would contract and that would further make the ejection of semen a sooner possibility.
